Minnow Daffodil Bulbs

Small in stature but generous in flower, Narcissus ‘Minnow’ brings a softer, more natural look to the spring garden. Each compact stem can carry several neat blooms, opening pale yellow before maturing towards creamy white. Planted in groups, the flowers create a delicate cloud of colour with a light fragrance that encourages you to stop and enjoy them at close range.

Minnow belongs to the Tazetta group of daffodils and combines its multi-flowered character with a tidy dwarf habit. It is particularly valuable where standard daffodils can feel too tall: at the edge of a path, in a rock garden, beneath deciduous shrubs or filling a spring container near the door.

Creating the Best Display

Plant Minnow generously in groups for a natural pool of cream and yellow. Its understated colouring pairs beautifully with blue muscari, violet crocus and early miniature tulips. In containers, use it alone for a clean display or place it above deeper-planted tulips to extend the season.

Planting Minnow Daffodils

Plant from September to November in full sun or partial shade. Choose moderately fertile soil that remains reasonably moist while the bulbs are growing but drains well through winter. Set bulbs pointed end upwards, approximately 10cm deep and 8–10cm apart.

Deadhead after flowering, but never cut or tie the green leaves. Allow them to yellow naturally for at least six weeks so the bulbs can rebuild their reserves. Congested clumps may be lifted and divided after the foliage has died back.
