Purple Sensation Allium Bulbs

Description

Purple Sensation Allium Bulbs

Premium 12/14 Purple Sensation bulbs. Dense, vivid rosy-purple globes rise to around 80–100cm for outstanding architectural impact. Typically flowering in late spring to early summer. Excellent through borders and prairie-style planting, and highly attractive to pollinators.

The display

Dense purple globes rise cleanly above emerging perennials, adding a strong vertical rhythm before the main summer border takes over. Repeated groups look dramatic, while even a smaller cluster gives structure to sunny planting.

Why you’ll love it

• Flower colour: Deep rosy purple
• Flowering time: Early summer
• Height: Approximately 80–100cm
• Best for: Borders, prairie planting, pots, cutting and pollinators
• Bulb grade: 12/14cm
• Hardiness: RHS H6 / fully hardy

Planting advice

Plant during September–November with the growing point uppermost where it is visible. Set the bulbs or corms approximately About three times the bulb height deep and 10–15cm apart. Choose full sun in fertile, freely drained soil. Water after planting if the soil is dry, but avoid ground that remains waterlogged.

Aftercare

Allow the foliage to die back naturally. Allium leaves often begin to fade as the flowers open, so planting among emerging perennials helps disguise them. Leave the seedheads standing for structure or cut them for dried arrangements.
