A dependable Maincrop potato renowned for excellent chips and roast potatoes. Maris Piper produces heavy crops of oval, cream-skinned tubers with floury flesh, good flavour and useful storage potential.
Description
Maris Piper is the classic British chipping potato and a dependable Maincrop choice for home growers. It produces heavy crops of oval, cream-skinned tubers with cream flesh and a dry, floury texture.
Its excellent frying qualities make it a natural choice for crisp, golden chips. The floury flesh also gives light mash, crunchy roast potatoes and fluffy baked potatoes. Properly cured, sound tubers store well for use through the colder months.

Planting & Growing
Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from late March into April once the soil is workable and conditions are suitable.
Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing about 30–35cm between tubers and around 75cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.
Variety-specific advice: Allow the crop to reach full maturity for the driest texture and best frying quality. After lifting, dry the tubers thoroughly before storing them in a cool, dark, frost-free place.
Harvest: Allow a longer season and check tuber development from late summer into autumn.
