GIGANTIC Allium Bulbs – Mount Everest

Premium 16/18 Mount Everest allium bulbs. Tall white flower globes create a spectacular architectural display from late spring into early summer. Typically reaching up to 1.2m in good conditions, they are ideal for sunny borders, cutting, dried seedheads and pollinator-friendly planting.

The display

Its clean white globes float above mixed planting on strong stems, bringing height without visually crowding the border. Plant in groups through lower perennials so the flowers rise above them and the ripening foliage is naturally disguised.

Planting advice

Plant during September–November with the growing point uppermost where it is visible. Set the bulbs or corms approximately 15–20cm deep and 20–30cm apart. Choose full sun in fertile, freely drained soil. Water after planting if the soil is dry, but avoid ground that remains waterlogged.

Aftercare

Allow the foliage to die back naturally. Allium leaves often begin to fade as the flowers open, so planting among emerging perennials helps disguise them. Leave the seedheads standing for structure or cut them for dried arrangements.

Planting & Care

When & Where to Plant

Plant in autumn in full sun and freely drained soil. Ornamental alliums dislike winter waterlogging and perform particularly well in borders, gravel-style planting and large containers.

Spacing & Depth

Plant pointed end upwards at 15–20cm deep.
Allow 20–30cm between bulbs.
Position bulbs among later-emerging perennials, which can disguise fading foliage.

Variety-specific Advice

Mount Everest produces tall white globes. Shelter the stems from the strongest winds and place them through lower perennial planting for support.

Care & After Flowering

Water after planting if the soil is dry, but avoid prolonged wetness. Leave foliage until it dies back naturally. Flower heads can be left standing for architectural seedheads or cut for dried arrangements.
