Grand Maître Crocus Bulbs

Premium 8/9 Grand Maître bulbs. Large light-blue goblet-shaped flowers with vivid orange stamens and stigma. Flowers early spring. Reaches up to 10cm. Best in full sun and gritty, well-drained soil. Ideal for borders, pots, gravel gardens and naturalising in grass.

Planting advice

Plant during September–November with the growing point uppermost where it is visible. Set the bulbs or corms approximately 5–6cm deep and 5–8cm apart. Choose full sun in gritty, freely drained soil. Water after planting if the soil is dry, but avoid ground that remains waterlogged.

Aftercare

Allow the foliage to yellow naturally after flowering. When naturalising in grass, delay mowing until the leaves have faded so the corms can build energy for the following spring.

Planting & Care

When & Where to Plant

Plant in autumn in full sun and gritty, freely drained soil. Crocuses are ideal for pots, rock gardens, border fronts and naturalising through short grass.

Spacing & Depth

Plant the corms 5–6cm deep.
Space approximately 5–8cm apart, or plant more closely in containers.
Plant in generous groups for the strongest colour effect.

Naturalising in Grass

Scatter corms for an informal pattern. After flowering, leave the grass uncut until the crocus foliage has yellowed and died back.

Variety-specific Advice

Grand Maître gives its best display in generous groups. Position it where the flowers receive spring sunshine, which encourages the goblets to open fully.

After Flowering

Allow foliage to die back naturally. Keep summer conditions reasonably dry and divide overcrowded clumps when dormant.
