Irish Gold Seed Potatoes
From £6.99
An Irish-bred Second Early from North Dublin, with distinctive purple-blushed eyes, high yield, rich creamy flavour and naturally occurring anthocyanin pigments in the coloured skin.
Description
Irish Gold is a genuinely Irish-bred variety, originating from North Dublin and increasingly popular with home growers. Its cream-coloured round-oval tubers have distinctive purple blushes around the eyes, making the crop easy to recognise once lifted.
The creamy flesh is on the flourier side, giving excellent flavour for baking, mash, boiling and roasting. Its coloured skin contains naturally occurring anthocyanin pigments, antioxidant compounds associated with red and purple potato skins. Its strongest reasons to grow remain its Irish provenance, distinctive appearance, flavour and high yield potential.

Planting & Growing
Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from March into April once soil conditions are suitable.
Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing about 30cm between tubers and around 60cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.
Variety-specific advice: Grow as a Second Early to early-maincrop type. Begin checking in summer but allow a little extra maturity if you want the flouriest texture for mash or baking.
Harvest: Begin checking from early to mid-summer, depending on planting date and conditions.
