Pink Fir Apple Seed Potatoes
From £7.99
A distinctive late-cropping heritage salad potato with long, knobbly tubers, thin pink-blushed skin and firm waxy flesh prized for its rich, nutty flavour.
Description
Pink Fir Apple is a distinctive heritage salad potato, grown for its long, knobbly tubers and exceptional flavour. Beneath the pink-blushed skin is firm, waxy, creamy-yellow flesh with a rich, slightly nutty taste.
This late-cropping RHS Award of Garden Merit variety is excellent for salads, boiling, steaming and sautéing. The thin skin can be eaten, which also avoids the awkward job of peeling its characteristically irregular tubers.
Why grow Pink Fir Apple?
- Maturity: Maincrop
- Cooking type: Waxy
- Texture: Firm, dense and waxy
- Best for: Boiling, Salads, Sautéing, Steaming
- Skin: Pink-blushed / yellow

Planting & Growing
Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from late March into April once the soil is workable and conditions are suitable.
Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing about 35–40cm between tubers and around 75cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.
Variety-specific advice: Cook the tubers whole or in large pieces with their skins on. Their waxy flesh holds together well and is particularly good served warm with butter or cooled for a potato salad.
Harvest: Allow a longer season and check tuber development from late summer into autumn.
