Planting & Growing
Choose your variety by when you want to harvest. First earlies are usually ready first, followed by second earlies. Maincrop varieties need a longer season and can be left to mature for storage.
Plant in spring when the soil is workable and warming. Earth up as shoots grow to keep developing tubers covered, and water during dry spells while tubers are forming. Harvest timing varies with planting date, variety and weather.
See our Growing Guides for planting depths, spacing and advice on growing in bags or containers.
