Damask Seed Potatoes
From £6.99
A McCreight-bred Northern Irish red-skinned maincrop with strong yield, good dry matter, creamy-yellow flesh and good keeping quality.
Description
Damask was bred by McCreight Potatoes here in Northern Ireland. It produces bright red-skinned oval tubers with creamy-yellow flesh, good dry matter and a strong traditional potato flavour.
In our experience Damask is a strong-yielding variety with good keeping quality. Its flourier texture makes it particularly useful for roast potatoes and mash, with good all-round kitchen potential.
Why grow Damask?
- Maturity: Maincrop
- Cooking type: Slightly Floury
- Texture: Dry to moderately floury and fluffy
- Best for: Baking, Mashing, Roasting
- Skin: Bright red
- Flesh: Creamy yellow
- Tuber shape: Oval
Growing note: Give Damask room to express its yield and allow the crop to mature before storage. Proper curing and cool, dark storage make the most of its long keeping ability.

Planting & Growing
Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from late March into April once the soil is workable and conditions are suitable.
Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing about 35–40cm between tubers and around 75cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.
Variety-specific advice: Give Damask room to express its yield and allow the crop to mature before storage. Proper curing and cool, dark storage make the most of its long keeping ability.
Harvest: Allow a longer season and check tuber development from late summer into autumn.
