A reliable traditional shallot producing attractive golden-brown bulbs with good kitchen versatility and useful storage qualities. Supplied grade: 22/47mm.

500g Red Biztro
An attractive red shallot producing rounded bulbs with reddish-brown skins. Versatile for salads, roasting and everyday cooking. Supplied grade: 22/47mm.

How to Plant Shallot Sets

Plant in a sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil. Good drainage is particularly important for autumn planting.

• Plant sets approximately 15–20cm apart.
• Leave around 25–30cm between rows.
• Plant with the pointed tip just visible above the soil surface.
• Firm the soil gently around each set and keep the area weed-free as plants establish.

Each planted set will divide as it grows to produce a cluster of new shallots. On heavy or waterlogged ground, raised beds or large containers are useful alternatives.
