Bleuet Seed Potatoes
From £6.99
An early purple-skinned, purple-fleshed variety producing numerous uniform round-oval tubers with shallow eyes, firm texture and good culinary quality.
Description
Bleuet is a colourful early potato bred for more than novelty value. It produces numerous, very uniform round-oval tubers with smooth purple skin, purple flesh and shallow eyes, while the plants emerge quickly and develop strongly.
The flesh is firm to fairly firm, making Bleuet particularly good boiled, steamed or used in salads where it can hold its shape and retain much of its colour. The purple pigment is naturally occurring anthocyanin. For customers comparing coloured potatoes, Bleuet's strength is uniformity and firm eating quality rather than floury mash.

Planting & Growing
Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from March into April once soil conditions are suitable.
Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing about 30cm between tubers and around 60cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.
Variety-specific advice: Keep moisture reasonably even to encourage the uniform tuber set the variety is known for. Avoid overcooking if you want the strongest colour and firmest texture.
Harvest: Begin checking from early to mid-summer, depending on planting date and conditions.
