BF15 Seed Potatoes

From £7.99

A classic French gourmet potato with fine yellow flesh, a firm texture and lovely flavour. BF15 is especially good steamed, boiled, served in salads or sautéed.

Description

For growers who want a potato with real character at the table, A French classic, BF15 has been enjoyed by growers since its registration in 1947. Bred from Belle de Fontenay and Flava, it brings together a distinguished heritage, firm flesh and the rich, gourmet flavour that makes it such a rewarding potato to cook and eat.

BF15 has yellow skin and fine yellow flesh, with an elegant, elongated shape. Its firm texture holds together well during cooking, while its flavour makes it particularly rewarding when served simply: steamed or boiled with butter, folded through a potato salad, or sliced and sautéed until golden.

This is a variety to choose for flavour and a fine, firm bite. It is not a fluffy, floury potato for light mash; BF15 comes into its own when you want the potato to keep its shape and bring its own character to the dish.

Planting & Growing

Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from March into April once soil conditions are suitable. As an Early Maincrop, it crops after the earliest varieties and gives the tubers longer to develop.

Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing 30–35cm between tubers and around 75cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.

Variety-specific advice: BF15 is a mid-early variety. Its firm cooking quality makes it a lovely choice for summer salads and simple potato dishes once your crop is ready to harvest.

Harvest: Begin checking from late summer, depending on planting date and conditions.
