Description

Celebration is a Plantera-bred mid-early potato selected for firm cooking quality, attractive presentation and a useful tuber count. The yellow-fleshed tubers keep their shape well and have a noticeably good flavour.

That makes Celebration particularly good steamed, boiled, roasted whole or used in salads. It is also well suited to late-season growing from cold-stored seed, which is why it has become a useful 'Christmas potato' choice. This is a variety to choose for firm texture and flavour, rather than for floury mash.

Planting & Growing

Chit seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free place if you want to encourage an earlier start. Plant from March into April once soil conditions are suitable.

Plant approximately 10–15cm deep, allowing about 30cm between tubers and around 60cm between rows. Earth up developing shoots to keep tubers covered and maintain an even water supply while tubers are forming.

Variety-specific advice: For a summer crop, grow as a Second Early. For a festive crop, use properly cold-stored seed planted in late summer and protect the foliage from frost as the season closes.

Harvest: Begin checking from early to mid-summer, depending on planting date and conditions.
